About Us

Seaton Community Children’s Centre is a non profit community based service which is managed by a committee of parents who are passionate about making our service a warm, inviting, high quality experience for you and your child. We are licensed for 52 children per day aged from 6 weeks to school age.

Seaton Community Children’s Centre is located on Glenburnie Street next to the Seaton High School. We have a large, exciting outdoor area with lots of shade and room to learn and develop skills.

At the front of the service we also have a Kitchen Garden which the children help to plant, maintain and harvest for use in our delicious and balanced meals, in accordance with the guidelines from Nutrition Australia.

We have been providing high quality, professional childcare to the surrounding community for over 30 years. We are accredited through the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority and are constantly involved in professional development and training.

How we work

We are a not for profit service who are managed by a Committee, predominately made up of parents and well as a representative from the Educator’s team. Parents volunteer to support the service with advice about service development, current issues, quality improvment, fundraising and also welcome valuable feedback and input from their families. Our Committee is passionate about ensuring emphasis is placed upon quality of support for children’s wellbeing and development.

We provide children with morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, snack and drinks in accordance with the Nutrition Australia guidelines, which promotes healthy eating for young children. The meals we provide help children achieve at least 50% of their daily nutritional requirements. We support children who have specific mealtime requirements with consultation between our cook, families and other professionals is required. We support breastfeeding, and require that parents bring in formula or breastmilk.

We value the environment and have guidelines to ensure we are not wasteful and recycling accordingly.

We encourage children to explore and learn through nature in our spacious outdoor area. Being situated in a low traffic area makes the outdoor experience safer and more enjoyable. The children take pride in growing their own vegetables in the their garden. There is a large covered outdoor area which children can enjoy during inclement weather. We supply sunscreen and follow the Cancer Coucils’s guidelines for sun safety throughout the year.

We use current educational ideas including Secure Attachment Theory, the Circle of Security, Marte Meo, and Primary Caregiving to inflence the development our programs. Our curriculum is based on Early Years Learning Framework.

We have highly qualified educators, and encourage further learning that supports best practice. Between us our employees have 185 years of experience within a childcare environment and we have a stable team.

Our Focus

We strongly believe in upholding the rights of children, and are inclusive of all backgrounds, cultures and abilities. We embrace diversity because we know how much it enriches the learning and values of the children we support, their families and our educators.

We focus on building relationships and an environment that supports each child to feel safe and secure, which means we are always responsive and nurturing with children as a critical part of their development throughout life. We focus on the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social health of each child in partnership with families to ensure each child is receiving the education and care that supports their own needs and interests.

We give a lot of attention to communication between children, families and educators which helps us find the strengths of both children and educators and a greater ability to enhance their development.
